Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated 18 October 2026

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

The products and services I supply come with consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)). These guarantees cannot be excluded, restricted or modified. Nothing in this policy affects them.

In summary, products must be of acceptable quality, match their description and be fit for any purpose you made known to me. Services must be provided with due care and skill, be fit for any purpose you made known to me and be delivered within a reasonable time.

If a product or service fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you are entitled to a remedy:

  • Major failure: you can choose a refund or a replacement (for products) or a refund for the unused portion of a service (for services). You may also be entitled to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss.
  • Minor failure: I may choose to fix the problem, for example by replacing a file or resupplying a service, within a reasonable time. If I do not, you can ask for a refund.

The rest of this policy explains what I offer in addition to those rights. That includes where I choose to give refunds for change of mind and how cancellations and rescheduling work.

This policy is part of the Terms of Use. The website is operated by Owen Magocha (“I”, “me”), ABN .

Digital products

This covers ebooks, guided journals, workbooks, PDFs and other downloadable products.

Change of mind. Because digital files cannot be returned once downloaded, I do not generally offer refunds for change of mind after a product has been downloaded. If you bought a product by mistake and have not downloaded it, contact me within 7 days of purchase and I will refund you.

Faulty or not as described. You are entitled to a remedy if a product:

  • is corrupted, incomplete or will not open in the format stated on the product page;
  • is materially different from its description; or
  • otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee.

In most cases I will first send you a working or corrected file. If I cannot fix the problem or the failure is major, I will refund you.

Download problems. If your time-limited download link expires or a download fails, contact me and I will send you a new link or the file. This is not treated as a refund request.

Duplicate purchases. If you are accidentally charged twice for the same product, I will refund the duplicate payment.

Printed books (where offered)

Bought from an external retailer. If you bought a printed book from a bookshop or online retailer, please contact that retailer. Its returns policy applies, together with your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Bought from me directly. If I sell and ship a book to you:

  • Damaged, faulty or wrong item: contact me within a reasonable time of delivery, ideally with a photo. I will send a replacement or give you a refund, including the original postage. I will not ask you to return a damaged book unless I arrange and pay for the return.
  • Not delivered: if your book has not arrived within 10 business days after the estimated delivery date, contact me and I will investigate with the carrier and send a replacement or refund you.
  • Change of mind: I will accept a return of an unused book in its original condition within 14 days of delivery. You pay the return postage. Once I receive the book, I will refund the purchase price (excluding the original postage).

Coaching sessions

This covers the Introductory 30-minute session, the Individual 60-minute session, the 3-session Development Package and the 6-week Structured Growth Programme. Sessions are booked and paid through Calendly.

Rescheduling and cancelling a session

When you tell me What happens
24 hours or more before the session start time You can reschedule at no cost or cancel for a full refund.
Less than 24 hours before the session start time The session fee may be forfeited (or, for a package, the session counted as used).
You do not attend (no-show) The session fee is forfeited (or, for a package, the session counted as used).

You can reschedule or cancel using the links in your Calendly confirmation email or by emailing me through the contact form. The time of your request is the time Calendly records it or the time your email is received.

Genuine emergencies. If you cannot attend because of a genuine emergency, such as sudden illness, a family emergency or bereavement, please tell me as soon as you can. I will consider offering a reschedule or refund at my discretion, even if less than 24 hours’ notice was given.

Late arrival. If you join late, the session will still end at its scheduled time. If you have not joined within 15 minutes of the start time and have not contacted me, the session is treated as a no-show.

Technical problems. If a session cannot go ahead or is significantly disrupted because of a technical problem on my side or a platform failure outside either of our control, I will reschedule it at no cost or refund you, whichever you prefer.

If I cancel. If I need to cancel or reschedule a session, I will give you as much notice as possible. You can choose a new time or a full refund for that session.

Packages and programmes

The 3-session Development Package and the 6-week Structured Growth Programme are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase. Sessions not used within that period will expire.

Refunds for unused sessions. Within the 6-month validity period, you can ask for a refund of any unused sessions. The refund is calculated pro-rata: the package price divided by the number of sessions in the package, multiplied by the number of sessions you have not used. Sessions forfeited under the rescheduling and cancelling rules above count as used.

After the validity period ends, unused sessions are not refundable, unless a refund is required under the Australian Consumer Law. If something outside your control (such as serious illness) prevents you using your sessions within 6 months, contact me before the period ends and I will consider an extension.

Courses (The Learning Room)

Free courses involve no payment, so no refund applies.

Paid courses. You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of purchase, as long as you have completed less than 25% of the course. Course progress is measured by the proportion of lessons you have opened. If you are not sure how much you have completed, ask me and I will check.

Once 14 days have passed or you have completed 25% or more of the course, I do not offer refunds for change of mind. This does not affect your rights if the course is faulty, materially different from its description or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee.

When a course is refunded, your access to it ends.

Live online events (Live Sessions)

Free events involve no payment, so no refund applies. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your registration so the place can go to someone else.

Ticketed events:

Situation What happens
You cancel 7 days or more before the event Full refund.
You cancel less than 7 days before the event No refund, but you may transfer your ticket to another person by letting me know their name and email before the event.
I cancel the event Full refund of the amount you paid.
I change the date or time and you cannot attend the new time Full refund.
The event cannot proceed because of a technical failure on my side You can choose a full refund or a place at the rescheduled event.

If your ticket was bought through a third-party ticketing platform, the refund will usually be processed through that platform. Booking fees charged by a ticketing platform are not refundable on a change-of-mind cancellation.

Membership (The Owen Magocha Circle)

Cancel any time. You can cancel a paid membership (Circle or Circle Plus) at any time through your account or by emailing me. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current monthly billing period. You keep access until then and will not be charged again.

No partial-month refunds. I do not refund part of a monthly payment when you cancel partway through a billing period, except where a refund is required by law.

Billing errors. If you are charged after you cancelled, charged the wrong amount or charged twice, contact me and I will refund the incorrect charge.

Price changes. I will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before a membership price change applies to you. You can cancel before the new price takes effect.

The Reader tier is free, so no refund applies.

Membership is a commercial subscription, not a donation.

How to request a refund or cancellation

Email me through the contact form with:

  • your name and the email address used for the purchase or booking;
  • what you bought, booked or registered for and the date;
  • your receipt or confirmation number, if you have it; and
  • a short description of the reason for your request (for a faulty product, include what the problem is).

For coaching, you can also use the reschedule and cancel links in your Calendly emails. For membership, you can also cancel through your account.

Timeframes

  • I will acknowledge your request within 2 business days.
  • I aim to decide on your request within 5 business days of receiving the information I need.
  • Approved refunds are made to the original payment method (through Stripe, PayPal or the relevant ticketing platform). Once I process a refund, it usually takes 5 to 10 business days to appear in your account, depending on your bank or card provider.

If you are not satisfied with my response, you can contact NSW Fair Trading or the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for information about your consumer rights.
